Jocie Brooke,a thirteen year old and her family find the summer of 1964 very enlightening,even if life will never be the seem. Family saga at it’s best and worst. While Jocie is looking for security,and a loving father,she finds so much more. Filled with family drama,life in small town Kentucky,a bit of humor,nostalgia and the love of family. Ms. Gabhart has once again written a story with realistic characters,realistic struggles,and God’s love for everybody. A powerful story from beginning to the last page. I can hardly to see the next installment of “The Heart of Hollyhill”. A great read for anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction,small town America,stories of Kentucky,and wholesome reads than you will not be disappointed in “Scent of Lilacs”.
